📘 About the TVET TOP ACHIEVERS Award

The TVET Top Achievers Award is a prestigious recognition under the Southern African Annual Top Achievers Awards (SAATA Awards), dedicated to celebrating outstanding students, graduates, lecturers, and institutions within the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.

This award acknowledges the critical role of TVET education in equipping young people with practical skills, fostering innovation, and bridging the gap between education and industry. By highlighting excellence in academics, innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership, the TVET Excellence Award aims to inspire a new generation of skilled professionals who can contribute meaningfully to the economic growth and social development of Southern Africa.

The award also serves to elevate the status of TVET colleges, often overlooked compared to universities, by recognizing their immense contribution in producing job creators, innovators, and community leaders.

Through this recognition, SAATA Awards seeks to:.

📌 Guidelines for the TVET Top achieveRS Award

To ensure fairness, transparency, and recognition of true excellence in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, nominees and participants must adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Eligibility Criteria
  • Open to students, graduates, lecturers, and institutions within accredited TVET colleges in Southern Africa.
  • Nominees must have demonstrated outstanding academic performance, skills innovation, or leadership in their respective fields.
  • Projects, initiatives, or contributions must have been completed or active within the last 2 years.
2. Nomination Process
  • Nominations can be submitted by colleges, lecturers, peers, or community leaders.
  • Self-nominations are allowed but must include verified supporting evidence.
  • Each nomination must be accompanied by: (1) Completed nomination form. (2) Certified academic records (where applicable). (3) Portfolio of evidence (projects, research, business plan, or innovation). (4) At least one recommendation letter.
3. Judging Criteria

Nominations will be assessed based on:

  • Excellence in Academics – performance in studies, technical mastery, or certifications.
  • Innovation & Creativity – unique projects, inventions, or problem-solving initiatives.
  • Entrepreneurship & Leadership – ability to lead initiatives, create opportunities, or impact communities.
  • Community Impact – contribution to social, economic, or environmental development.
4. Award Sub-Categories
  • Top TVET Student – Academic & Skills Excellence.
  • Top TVET Innovator – Innovation & Creativity.
  • Top TVET Entrepreneur – Business & Startup Development.
  • Top TVET Lecturer/Trainer – Commitment to Skills Development.
  • Top TVET Institution – Holistic Contribution to TVET Growth.
5. SUBMISSION DEADLINE
  • All nominations must be submitted no later than 30 November 2025.
  • Late entries will not be considered.

6. RECOGNITION

Winners will be honored at the Southern African Annual Top Achievers Awards (SAATA Awards) ceremony on the date selected and venue chosen, receiving:

  • A trophy/plaque & certificate of excellence.
  • Recognition in official publications, media, and SAYDA platforms.
  • Opportunities for networking, mentorship, and exposure.

These guidelines ensure that the award remains a credible platform for celebrating the skills, innovation, and impact of TVET achievers.
